Activity: Sound Design

Now, let’s practice. Pick one of the following:

1) Add more than one piece of audio (i.e., original and/or remixed audio clips) to a 10-30 second video clip. The video clip can be your own recording or one available on the web (avoid copyright infringement).

  • Need videos? Pixabay has free video clips to download. The clip should be between 10-30 seconds long.
  • Need to find audio? ccmixter has free Creative Commons-licensed audio to download.
  • Need a video editor to create the final clip? There’s likely one built in to your computer (i.e., iMovie in a Mac, or Windows Movie Maker or Photos app in Windows 10).
  • Once you have created the video clip, upload it below.

2) Create a portfolio of sound effects for a game. Pick a game you enjoy, one you create (perhaps in Scratch) or a theme (like monster/apocalypse game). Then create 5-10 sound effects that might appear in the game. Edit the sound effects into a single audio file and upload it below.
