Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Design
We acknowledge not all multimedia design involves education, but we should acknowledge that many forms of multimedia work to inform, or teach, the viewer something. Even if the purpose is to gain the viewer’s trust or to persuade the viewer to purchase an item, information is being conveyed. And there are more effective and less effective ways of doing this.
Richard Mayer is one of those researchers, like Piaget or Vygotsky, who many instructional technology designers just know, specifically his Principles of Multimedia Design.
