Scratch Communities

Scratch is an example of how a community of makers can grow online.

  1. Visit https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/ and click around in the various discussions. Notice how the community members help each other to learn more about Scratch and to troubleshoot programs. This is an example of a typical interaction in the Scratch community (notice from the timestamps on the left how quickly the original poster’s question was answered by another member of the community):
  2. Visit the Scratch Educators community: http://scratched.gse.harvard.edu/. Though this platform is now closed, it is a good example of how technology supported the development of an online community focused on teaching, learning, and making.
